November 17, 2021
Sadly, on November 17th,2021 Doris (Kay) Schwab passed away peacefully at Columbia View Lodge. She was predeceased by her husband Lou Schwab, parents Frank and Antoinette Lavorato and brother Lefty (Irvin) Lavorato.
Mom was a loving mother to her son Frank, daughters Linda (Jim) Green, and Carol (Karl Herzig) Schwab. Mom was also a loving grandmother to her grandson Jeff (Danille)Green and Jennie (John)Kelly. And of course, a loving gigi to Lincoln, Cort, Elena and Fiona. She is also survived by her brother Charlie (Dorothy) Lavorato.
Mom was a huge part of the Trail Smokettes hockey team for many years. She was the team manager and true number one fan of the girls and her daughter Carol. Mom could be heard cheering them on at every game and then carried on that cheering years later in various rinks first to watch her grandson Jeff play and then even into her eighties proudly watching her great grandsons Lincoln and Cort. If she wasn't at the rink, you would for sure find her at her "second home" Columbia View Lodge. Mom was one of their most devoted volunteers for the most part of twenty-five years. She truly loved working alongside Margo and Monty. As years went on Mom always talked about those two and the shenanigans that took place.
We would like to thank everyone that cared for Mom in the final years, her huge extended family, her neighbours who watched over her during her times of need, Pat, Tom, Jerry, Susan, Lindsay, Barb, Bob, The Rapleys, Darren and Randy only to name a few. All her care team from Dr.Yo, to homecare supervisors, all of the homecare ladies, her overnight ladies, nurses etc. the list is huge, we know who you are and can't thank you enough. There will be a celebration of life to follow. Mom will be greatly missed but always loved and in our heart.
