With sad and broken hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, wife and sister. She passed away at the age of 84, on June 7, 2013 at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital with her family by her side.

Dorothy was born in Rossland, BC on April 16, 1929 and raised in Rossland, Nelson and Trail. Reaching maturity during the era of WW II, she fostered a lifelong interest of the nature of war. She was a voracious reader who loved her books and she became a reliable source of knowledge and a trusted wealth of information to all generations. She had a great collection of war memorabilia which was appropriately displayed in the "War Room" library. Anyone who knew Dorothy knew she was a smart, determined woman with a great sense of humour.

She will be dearly missed by Lorne, her husband of 65 years. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Donna (Peter) Graham and Rochelle (Steve Barnes), her sister Molly (Len) Pare, her grandchildren; Peter, Lauren, Cole and Clark Graham, her nieces; Loretta (Reno) Zanier, Maureen (Gord) Mattson, Lynn Pare, Diane Mailey, her nephews; Ron (Diane) Paolini, Lorne (Karen) Pare, and Donald (Val) Paolini. Dorothy was predeceased by nephews; Adolf (Irene) Tambellini and Kevin Pare.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kirby, Dr. Scotland, Hospice, the compassionate staff at the 3rd floor Medical Unit at KBRH and to Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services.

At Dorothy’s request, there will not be a service.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Dorothy’s name to either CNIB at #101,1456 St. Paul Street, Kelowna, BC V1Y 2E6, www.cnib.ca or the Trail SPCA at 7700 Highway 3B  Trail, BC V1R 2L9, www.spca.bc.ca or to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Health Foundation at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC V1R 4M1, www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca
