March 24, 1929 - January 12, 2025

In loving memory ~

Born March 24, 1929 in Trail, BC. She passed away at Columbia View Lodge January 12, 2025 at the age of 95.

Dorothy was born to Duncan and Ruth (Hesketh) Robertson. She was born 4th in a family of 5. She attended School in Trail and was a part of the School Orchestra playing Violin. She married Charlie Lavorato on May 12, 1951 and were married for almost 73 years. They were long time residents of Warfield until health issues made staying in their home impossible. Dorothy worked for CIBC, Trail, BC for about 36 years. She trained many young men at the branch before they moved on to start their careers.

Dorothy was a beautiful knitter and many family members and others were thrilled to be the recipients of one of her beautiful creations.

She was also well known amongst her family for her spaghetti sauce and meatballs. She learned how to make ravioli and it became a yearly affair to make a big batch that would last the year. Eventually that ended too. She was extremely close to her older sister Isabel and family. They all shared weekly Sunday dinners until Isabel's passing. She was also close to her younger brother Duncan and family. Dorothy and Charlie spent many happy times with Duncan and family in Kimberley and at Kootenay Lake.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, brothers and sisters and her husband Charlie. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a big thank you to Dr. Nashad, the nurses and care aids and all other staff for their kindness, caring and understanding not only for Dorothy but all the residents at Columbia View Lodge.

As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Health Foundation (Columbia View Lodge) at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca or to the BC Arthritis Association at 895 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1L7.

Cremation has taken place and as per her wishes there will be no funeral. Interment will take place later in the spring with a graveside service. Wayne Szopa of Clark's Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
