Doug was born on July 25th, 1923 in Coleman, Alberta and passed away peacefully with his wife Dorothy and son Murray at his side in Trail, British Columbia on March 5th, 2018. Doug was the youngest of five children born to James and Beatrice. Doug was a kind, generous man with a great sense of humour who loved to tell stories.
Doug was predeceased by his parents James and Beatrice, sisters Ellen and Glenna, brothers Gordon and Fred and step-son Russell. Doug is survived by his loving wife Dorothy of 48 years, step-son Murray (Loriana), grandchildren Brittany (Ryan), Lindsay (Eric) and Dustin.
Doug served in the Canadian Army in Europe from 1942-46 and was a member of the invasion force at Juno Beach. After the war Doug was hired by Cominco and worked there for 40 years until his retirement as an Ironworker Foreman in Trade Services in 1983.
After retirement Doug and Dorothy briefly lived in Christina Lake before moving to Kelowna where they lived until 2014 and then finally moving back to Trail. Aside from his many winter vacations to Mexico and his beloved Kelowna Rockets, Doug's greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, many nieces and nephews but most of all cherished the times he spent with the love of his life Dorothy.
