Of Fruitvale, BC passed away on April 19, 2017 with a big smile. Those who knew Dougee will miss his jokes and funny stories, as well as his laugh and smile. From 2002 to 2017 Dougee simply loved being with Eleanor. A year ago Dougee’s health failed but he never gave up.
He said, “I’m not ready to leave, I have too much fun with my Elli.”
Dougee is survived by his love Eleanor Neil, step children; Keith (Denise) Neil, Teresa (Gord) Smyth, birth children; Mike (Sue)
Finlay, Greg Finlay, Ronie Finlay, Leah Finlay, 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, siblings; Maxine Halliwell, Alice Negus, and Jack (Verna) Finlay, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and special puppies Scooby-Doo and Sophie.
At Dougee’s request there will be no service. Alexandra Butts of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Dougee’s honour to the Fruitvale United Church Food Bank, bring a can of beans and a treat for the puppies!
The family would like to express their
gratitude to Dr. Behrens and the staff of the Beaver Valley Clinic, all the staff at the
Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, and to friends, neighbours, and family for all their help. Thank you.
