Apr 2, 1927 - Mar 26, 2018
Eleanor Gariepy was born in Trail on April 2, 1927. She passed away peacefully on March 26, 2018 just short of her 91st birthday, surrounded by the love of her family.

Some of her happiest memories were of her years growing up in the Gulch, with strong family ties and a wonderful sense of community. These were values that were always important to her.

She always had kind words for everyone and was a loyal and trusted friend. A testament to this was her enduring friendship with Fausta spanning 90 years.

She took great pride in her family and home. Mum created magic in her kitchen with her wonderful meals and incredible baking. Her recipes have been passed down to the family to enjoy and remember her.

Mum loved spending time with her grandchildren, baking, playing games, and delighting in their company. Mum enjoyed "gallivanting" with her lady friends as Dad would say. They spent many happy hours over lunch and going to teas.

She took great pleasure in the simple things in life. She enjoyed her strolls, puttering in her garden, and reading a good book. She and Dad spent many a happy summer camping with our family and friends. Many a Saturday night would find her and Dad entertaining friends and laughing over a rollicking game of cards.

Leaving to carry on her legacy are her children Laurence, Grant (Susan), Margo (Peter), Maurene (Russ), and Joanne (Forbes). Her twelve grandchildren Quinn (Kaycee), Rachele (Chris), Tyler (Karly), Andra (Kevin), and their mother Lynda, Megan (Braeden), and mother Joan, Allison (Trevor), Stephanie (Donny), Nylan (Ros), Amanda (B.A), Braden (Alana), Hillary and Laura (Geary). She also had 19 great grandchildren who were the lights of her life.

Surviving are also her sisters in law Carmen, Elaine (David), brother in law David (Donna), and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Roland and son Allen.

Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Rosewood Manor, where Mum enjoyed three years. We are grateful for the wonderful care she received. Thank you also to Doctors Fisher, Benzer, and Baxter for their kind, compassionate, and insightful care. Thank you to the third-floor nursing staff for the incredible care Mum received. The respect and kindness shown to our Mother was greatly appreciated.

A celebration of Mum's life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #11 on Tuesday April 3 at 11:00.
