November 22, 1925 - January 27, 2021
It is with sadness that we announce the death of our father, grandfather Elicio Bertoia on January 27 at Victoria General Hospital following a fall.
Dad was born in Italy on November 22 1925 moved to Canada and worked as a farm hand before moving to Trail and working at Cominco. He married mom in 1954 and they carved out lives in the house dad built at 430 Wellington Street.
Dad was always busy, gardening, fishing, berry picking, dancing with mom, designing concrete blocks, reading and later on carving beautiful wood duck decoys, which he gifted to friends.
Mom and Dad moved to Victoria for the last six years to be with family.
He was 95, he felt he had lived too long and was puzzled by it. Predeceased by his wife Edda and his seven siblings and survived by his sister Easter, sister-in-law Iole and Linda, children Gary (Bonnie), Irene (Bill) grandchildren Tyler (Taylor) Andrea, Aaron and Jesse as well as many nieces and nephews.
He will be missed, hopefully keeping busy wherever he may now be. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date when family is again allowed to congregate from all continents following COVID. You may make a donation in his name to your charity of choice if you so choose.
