Nov 27, 1924 – Mar 22, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, papa, and nonno Ernesto Visintini on March 22, 2018 at the age of 93.
He was born in Remanzacco, Udine, Italy on November 27, 1924. He served with the Italian Navy from 1940 -1957. On March 23, 1957 he married Rina Bruni, and soon afterward immigrated to Trail, BC, Canada. He worked as a produce manager at Super Valu (Trail, Waneta, and Rossland), retiring in 1986. Ernesto’s greatest pleasure was being surrounded by his family and watching their enjoyment.
Ernesto spent many years enjoying the family cabin at Arrow Lakes fishing, beach combing, building bonfires, and taking his kids/grandkids waterskiing and tubing. Ernesto loved his garden spending joyous hours tending to his tomatoes (grown from seeds), radicchio, and even watermelon. Watching a good hockey or soccer game on tv and sharing wonderful stories were also his passion. He had a smile for everyone. Our “papa and nonno” lived life to the fullest and left us all with a wonderful legacy and memories.
Ernesto will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years Rina (nee Bruni), daughters Denise (Robert) Harris, and Darlene (Joseph Chabot) Visintini; grandchildren Alexandra and Keaton Harris, and Danielle and Emily Chabot; siblings Maria, Ornella, and Sylvio; nephews, nieces, and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Leonardo and Teresa, his step-father Selmo, his sister and brother-in-law Olga and Ceasar D’Andrea, and his brother Mario.
A private celebration of life will be held with family and close friends. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Ernesto’s name may be made to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Health Foundation at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC, V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation at 4 – 1551 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 9M9 or online at www.heartandstroke.ca
