August 16, 1924 - January 21, 2020
With much sadness, her family announces the passing of Estrid Louise Martin on January 21, 2020, at the age of 95. She will be remembered with great love by her extended family.
The oldest of seven children, Estrid was born on August 16, 1924 in Port Arthur, Ontario, to Joel and Ida Broman. The family moved to Trail in 1930, where she married Cecil Richard Martin in 1948, and together they raised four children. Estrid was never happier than when surrounded by her kids and extended family. Her home-cooked meals, apple pies and chocolate chip cookies were always a special treat. In retirement, Estrid and Cec also enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and spending time at Kootenay Lake.
Estrid is predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Cecil, eldest son Gary, brothers and sisters Kurt Broman, Anita Aspinall, Alfie Fox, and Paul and Bert Broman. She is survived by sister June Tremblay, daughter-in-law Carol Martin, daughters Kathleen (Bob) Rosicki and Joyce Martin, son Mike (Kim) Martin, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Nana will be missed by her grandchildren Jason Beaver (Lisa Jones), Joel (Ashleigh) Martinflatt, Andrea Martin (Grant Hill) and Craig Martin, and her great-grandchildren Josh and Sam Beaver and Sumalee and Jachai Martinflatt.
The family would like to thank the staff of Rose Wood Village for their exceptional kindness and care of Estrid, and the medical staff of the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Estrid's name may be made to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Health Foundation at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail BC, V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish, with Father Francis dela Cruz, Celebrant. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
