It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Baba, Auntie, and Friend, Florence Shersbotbitoff, on January 6, 2012. Baba passed away peacefully at Columbia View Lodge with her loving family by her side.

Florence was born on October 4, 1924 in South Slocan BC. She later married the love of her life Nick and relocated to Fruitvale. There they had six children and lived happily for 52 years.

Being a good wife, mother, grandmother, auntie and friend was Florence`s, main interest. No one left Baba`s house without being fed, even if you weren’t hungry. She loved gardening, canning, knitting, and cooking. She was always busy with something. She also loved her pets. If there was an animal that needed a home Florence would not hesitate to give it one.

Florence is survived by two sons, Nick (Carolyne) Sherstobitoff, Tommy Sherstobitoff, and two daughters, Martha Sherstobitoff and Nancy (Bill) Postnikoff and daughter-in-law Mary Jane Handley, nine Grandchildren, Tammy , Lisa , Violete (James) , Jody (Zoey), Troy (Tara), Tanya (Lonnie), Billy(Alissa), Cyril, and Teresa (Kyle). She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Stacey (Anthony), Stephanie, TJ, Dylan, Andrew, Aiden and Damien along with many special nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Nick, mother and father, sons Steven, Andy and Billy, along with 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

The family of Florence would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mc Coid and all the staff who tended to Baba during her stay at Columbia View Lodge.

A funeral service will be held at Carberry’s Chapel on Saturday, January 14th at 10 a.m. with Major Samuel Fame officiating. Burial will follow at Boulder Creek Cemetery in Salmo, BC.
