Fortunata Elizabetha Macri

March 19, 1923 - November 12, 2021
It's with heavy hearts that we had to say goodbye to our beautiful Mother & Nonna, Fortunata Elizabetha Macri on Friday, November 12th, 2021.
Mom was born March 19th 1923, in Bianco RC, Italy to Pasquale and Maria Sganga.
She married the love of her life Stefano Macri after the second WW in which he was reported MIA but she refused to believe he was gone.
They had two sons and Dad felt he had to go to a neutral country, to ensure his boys would not go to war. So Mom and the boys followed Dad to Canada. Three more children completed the family.
She was preceded by her husband Stefano, her eldest son Vincenzo, daughter in law Sheila Macri and infant granddaughter Marie Stephanie. As well as her brothers and sisters in Italy and brother in Australia.
Mom gifted us all with the authentic food of an Italian kitchen, what a woman, and what a cook! Something we will all treasure .
Mom is survived by her sons Mario (Susan), Art (Pat), Pete (Francine) and daughter Amelina (Lynn) Cournoyer, her daughter in law Mary Macri, her sisters Francesca Elduan of Creston and Maria in Italy.
Nonna had eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren that adored her.
Mom will be truly missed and forever in our heart.

A memorial service for our Mother, Fortunata Macri will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at St. Rita Catholic Parish Fruitvale @11:00 am.
