FASTHUBER, Frank - April 14, 1944 – September 30, 2011

Frank passed away, surrounded by family, on September 30th at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital.

He was born in Austria, and moved to Saskatoon in 1964, where he met his wife, Cheezie. The couple moved to Trail a few years later, where Frank started his own business, Columbia Glass, which he owned and operated for 42 years. He was known as a hardworking and dedicated employer, and was mentor to his long-term and very loyal employees, Mike WcWhirther (24 years) and the late Heath Duclos (23 years.)

Frank will be sadly missed by his wife of 45 years, Cheezie, grandson Damon, son Dale (Lorie), and Brielle and Tyler. Frank will also be missed by his three brothers, Helmut (Waltraud) of Austria, Hans (Eva) of Trail, and Alex (Donna) of Silverton.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hii, Dr. Law, Dr. Scotland and the staff of the 3rd floor of KBRH for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Frank, and for helping to make his last days as comfortable as possible.

By Frank’s request, there will be no formal service. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.

As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society at 908 Rossland Ave., Trail, BC, V1R 3N6, or online at www.cancer.ca, would be appreciated by the family.
