Babuin: Gemma Concetta of Trail passed away on January 6, 2011 peacefully with her family at her side at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. She was born December 8, 1921 in Pozzuolo del Friuli, Udine, Italy.

Gemma came to Canada in 1953 with her husband Guido and their children and settled in Trail. She worked for many years at the Kootenay Hotel and then at the Colander. Gemma was an active member of Italo Canadese Lodge, Mount Carmel Society and the San Martino Club. She enjoyed walking and gardening, and was faithful to her church. Her greatest joy was her family, friends and neighbours.

She was predeceased by her husband Guido. Gemma will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children Peter (Jane) and Mary (Gordon) Bruce, grandchildren Christian (Una), Stephen (Nicole), Andrew (Stephanie), Christopher (Tiffany), Jeffrey (Karen) and Sarah (Brian) Youngson, 12 great-grandchildren, brother Gino (Maria) of Switzerland and sister Enrichetta of Italy, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Father Don Wilson will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Bill Clark and Al Grywacheski of Personal Alternative Funeral Services “Carberry’s Chapel” is entrusted with arrangmenets.
