George Allan Yurko, 86, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 31, 2020.
George will be remembered for his bright smile, unique sense of humour, his intellect, and devotion to family and friends. Born and raised in Harry Hill, Alberta, George graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in chemical engineering and later returned for his Master's in metallurgy.
George and his wife, Olga, settled in Trail, where he worked at Cominco for 35 years. He retired in 1994 as the general manager of the smelter.
Outside of work and after retirement, George enjoyed playing and watching two sports he loved; golf and curling. He also continued to beat his friends, children and grandchildren at cribbage.
George will be forever loved and dearly missed by his wife of 62 years, Olga (Ollie) and his three children; Ken (Joanne) Yurko, Colleen (Gary Gill) Yurko, and Carolyn (Pete) Coutu and all his grandchildren.
An intimate family service will be held in his honour at a later date.
