After a courageous battle with cancer, Georgina passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 28, 2017 at the Central Okanagan Hospice House at the age of 84.
Georgina was born March 16, 1933 in Trail, BC. She married Ted (Edward) Heslop in 1959. In addition to raising her family with extraordinary dedication and love, she volunteered extensively with the organizations that her children were involved with including Scouts Canada and the Trail Figure Skating Club. Georgina was a member of The Holy Trinity Catholic Church and served on the Executive of the CWL for many years as well as volunteering with several parish committees. Georgina truly enjoyed entertaining family and friends, cooking, gardening and spending time at Christina Lake with her family. All who knew Georgina would agree that she had a special gift of friendship, warmth and kindness that was immediately felt any time you were in her company.
She was predeceased by her mother Emilia Bertolozzi in 2007 and her father Guiseppe Bertolozzi in 1953, her brother William in 1989 and her son Thomas in 1964.
Georgina will be sadly missed by her husband of 58 years, Ted; her five children: Bob (Joanne) of Burnaby; Michael (Karren) of Blind Bay; Janice (Marvin) Laturnus of Delta; Corinne Macasso of West Kelowna; Bill of Summerland; and her 11 grandchildren Christina and Kaitlyn Heslop; Amy (Eric) Struyk and Kurtis Heslop; Nathan, Lauren and Graeme Laturnus; Jacqueline, Erica, Marissa and Max Macasso; and her 2 great-grandchildren: Brooklyn and Marco Struyk.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2547 Hebert Road, West Kelowna on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 1:30 pm with interment of ashes to follow at a later date at Mountain View Cemetery, Rossland.
