It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gino Amantea (September 16, 1957 – July 23, 2011).

Gino loved golfing, playing cards with his family and friends and spending time at the cabin on Arrow Lake with Sherry and their grand-daughters. His favourite time was on the boat with Sherry “chasing the sun.”

The years Gino spent working at Star Grocery, Safeway and as a distributer for Grimm’s Meats allowed many people throughout the West Kootenays to get to know Gino’s gentle way and unforgettable smile.

Gino’s quiet passion for the people in his life will not soon be forgotten. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Sherry, son Jake, granddaughters Lexis and Savannah, parents Tony and Francesca, siblings Pasquale (Aina), Rose (Alan) Karges, Mario (Mary), Dennis (Terri) and Mike (Carolyn); father-in-law Malcolm McBlain, brothers-in-law Dave McBlain (Sharleen), and Cory (Christine); nieces and nephews Dean, Peter, Angela, Jeff, Jill, Michael, Dominic, Jordan, Maya, Santino, Chalise, Jaydan, Rhianne and Connor. He was predeceased by his mother-in law Barb McBlain.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 28 at 11:30 am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help at 2012 3rd Avenue, Trail with Father Matthieu Gombo Yange OfmCap as the Celebrant. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 – 5:30 pm at the Colombo Lodge games room at 584 Rossland Avenue, Trail. Cremation is to follow.
