July 9, 1944 - November 2, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria, beloved wife, mother, nanny, sister, daughter and friend. Gloria lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, golfing, quilting, her dinners with her Friday night crew, and most of all taking care of her husband of 50 years and her many grandchildren. She devoted her life to taking care of others and ensuring that everyone around her had exactly what they needed.
Gloria was in born in North Hampton, England, she immigrated to Canada in 1948, and spent much of her younger years in Nanaimo, BC. For the past fifty years, Trail, BC has been Gloria's home, where she a volunteered with many community organizations.
Gloria was a long-time member of the Rossland Trail Country Club and since 1978 a non-resident member of the Kalispel Golf and Country Club, formerly the Spokane Country Club.
Gloria is predeceased by her father, Norman Blank, and survived, by her mother, Maxine Blank (age 101), brothers Danny Blank (Donna) and Kim Blank (Magdalena), her dedicated and loving husband Ronald, her children; Kirk Blank (Sherri), Bernadette Ross (Cory), and Stephanie Fabbro (David), and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Adrienne, Andrea, Josh, Bradley, Leah, Steven, Quinn, Isaac, Owen, and Lennon. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren.
Gloria fought a long and courageous battle against various complicated medical problems. She fought tirelessly to get better. Gloria's time on earth has ended, but her spirit and memories will remain in the hearts that she touched throughout her life.
The family would like to thank the wonderful care that the wound nurses provided to Gloria, the special attention from Dr. Jeremey Harris, Head of Vascular Surgery at Kelowna General Hospital, Dr. Sandra Baker and the Cardiac Care Unit at Kelowna General Hospital, and the care from the medical staff at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital, especially the palliative care nurses.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Gloria's name may be made to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Foundation at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC, V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca
A celebration of Gloria's life will be held in the spring for all her friends and family. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Servicesâ„¢ has been entrusted with arrangements.
