Gordon was active and busy in play, sports, and the outdoors all of his life. He had many good stories of adventures growing up in Montreal, his Grandpa Shaver, his brother Allan, his Walkley gang of friends, experimenting with gun powder, building cabins, and skiing in the Laurentians.

Gordon was interested in science and graduated McGill University in 1952, Metallurgy Engineering. He married Philippa and moved to Rossland B.C. and worked for Cominco. He loved the Kootenays and made wonderful lifelong friends. His stories and doggerel were received with hilarity at many parties and gatherings of friends.

Dad was a great father to Greg, Deb and Leslie. We had many adventures and fun in the outdoors with him. Skiing and fishing were his passions. He also excelled at squash (where he sometimes won playing with his non-dominant hand) and enjoyed tennis and golf. He never left the area except for a 2 year work assignment in southern India and some foreign travels. The 'best thing I ever did' was building his cabin on Kootenay Lake near Riondel.

Gordon met Mary Zak and they married in 2003. They enjoyed travel together and living in both Nelson and at his cabin. He adored Mary and they had 16 years of happiness together and with her family. One of a kind, he will be missed, remembered, and loved.

Special thanks to Dr. Kelly Mieske and the nurses and staff of Kootenay Lake Hospital. If you wish, you may make a donation in Gordon's name to the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation.
