It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon Robert Crawley, at the age of 63, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Penetanguishene ON, to Doreen and Harold Crawley, and moved to Trail, BC where he met and married the love of his life, Carol and raised two children, Joshua and Shelley (Peter).
Gord was a loyal and devoted husband, son, brother, wonderful father, "Pops", uncle, nephew and friend.
He will be deeply missed by his family; father Harold, and sisters Carol (Ralph), Cindy (Connie), and Rosemary (Jerry), uncle Robert (Marge), uncle Jack, sister-in-law Cheryl (Gordon), and brothers-in-law, Steven (Geri) and Alan (Coralee).
Gord loved being Alan's "big brother," and enjoyed many travel adventures with him, Coralee and Elissa. He was grateful for a lifetime of memories and friendship with the Mackay's (Gord, Julie, Kelly & Megan), whom he considered family.
He loved being "Pops" to his grandchildren Elias and Leyland, and they will miss his playful way with them. His loveable personality attracted people in all avenues of his life; he was known for his upbeat spirit, his contagious smile and laugh.
Gord's hometown in Ontario held a very special place in his heart along with the cousins and friends he grew up with there. He often shared wonderful memories of his grandmother.
Spending 36 dedicated years to his career at Teck Metals, he was always willing to lend a hand to co-workers and beat them at a lunchtime game of crib.
As per his request, a funeral will not be held. Jamie Tarron of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation ServicesTM has been entrusted with the arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Gord's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society Southern Interior Rotary Lodge at 330 Strathcona Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5K7.
