WHYTE: Gordon (Whytie) of Rivervale, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on July 19, 2011 at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. Gordon was born on October 1, 1935 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Glenna, children; Debi (Robert), Sue (Tom), John (Anna), Gay (Bob), 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brother; Bob (Joyce), extended family and many friends.

Pop worked in Saskatchewan for the Department of Highways, bridge building and later for the City of North Battleford. He came to Trail in 1970 to work at Cominco as an iron worker, retiring in 1994. After his retirement, Jim and Glenna were always travelling, enjoying their adventures in Canada and the USA. Whytie also looked forward to going to his “retirement job” at Bella Tire, and on Wednesday’s, treat the boys to his butter tarts. Pop was always the prankster and he loved to get a reaction out of anyone who crossed his path. His greatest pleasure was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they will always remember his chattering teeth.

An Interment will be held at 12:00 at Mountain View Cemetery on Monday, July 25, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 at the Warfield Community Hall at 900 Schofield Highway, Warfield. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
