In loving memory ~
Greag was a husband, father, brother and a grandpa and a friend. He was a man of many talents. If you wanted something done, you called Greag. I'm not going to tell you his birthday, age, career, etc., as they often do in such an article as this, because that is all irrelevant. What is important is that he was a good man!
A rough exterior with a soft and generous heart. He was a people person and could easily strike up a conversation with complete strangers regardless of their background. He was quick to laugh and always willing to lend a helping hand. Greag was a true blue friend. Someone you could count on in time of need. He spent much time helping those who sometimes could not help themselves but that Greag felt were being taken advantage of. He possessed not just a sense of purpose but a sense of responsibility towards family and friends which he continuously demonstrated in his willingness to help. Of course, he was not without his faults, but these were easily diminished by his overall character.
Greag loved where he lived, loved the people, loved the outdoors and it was difficult to get him out of the Kootenays. The people of Fruitvale, Trail, Salmo and surrounding area were part of his soul. He often said,"I live in paradise, why go anywhere else."
Greag has a can do attitude. He was a wheeler dealer when it came time to negotiating things and it was not beneath him to pull a little something over on someone to reach his objective. No real harm done but good for a belly laugh afterwards, when he recounted how he pulled a fast one.
Greag married for 49 years with Lori. Greag is survived by his wife, sons, John and Daryle, brothers, John (Annette) and Harvie. Also 2 beautiful granddaughters, Kylie and Taylor, whom he adored and loved to spend time with. As the girls would say "What the heck, Grandpa!"
A celebration of life will be held sometime in September 2022.
If you are reading this and did not know Greag, all I can say is that it truly was your loss. Like him or not, Greag was "one of a kind" and will not soon be forgotten.
Greag, We Love You!!
Only God knows how much we will miss you!!!!
