In loving memory ~
Gwen was born on April 5, 1936 in Drumheller, Alberta and passed away on February 17, 2025 in Rossland, British Columbia.
She was predeceased by her parents Trevor and Irma Jones, and her brother Gareth Jones.
Gwen is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Jim Markle, her children Trevor (children Courtenay, Emilie, Grace and Hope), Sandra Enns (Mark) children Colin, Jeremy and Elena, and Glenys Galloway (Mitch) children David and Alyssa. She is also survived by 10.5 great-grandchildren.
Gwen went to Sacred Heart Nursing School right after high school and graduated in 1957. She was a nurse at Mater Misericordiae Hospital in Rossland for over 25 years, ending her career as Director of Nursing at the Hospital. She loved bridge with her friends, walking, gardening, playing golf, knitting sweaters and crewel, and after retirement volunteering at the thrift shop and being a snowbird in Blythe, California. However, her favourite pastime was spending the summers at the family cabin at Christina Lake.
We have lost a wonderful, kind, loving lady who was the guiding light of our family. Although Alzheimer's stole her life away slowly, even in the end she was the courageous, strong, beautiful lady we loved with all our hearts.
The family would like to thank April Cashman for the loving support given to Mom over the years. Her dedication means the world to us.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. Gwen Ziprick of Clark's Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
