July 22, 1933 - October 20, 2022
In loving memory ~
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Jones, born July 22, 1933, in Trail B.C. He passed peacefully on October 20, 2022, in Surrey B.C., where he and his wife Beryl lived with their daughter, Judith Jones.
A beloved husband, father (Pops), grandfather (Poppa), great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and godfather, he was known as a gentleman (emphasis on the gentle) and a tough world-class hockey player. He was greatly respected and loved by a wide circle of friends, colleagues, and former teammates. Harold played for the 1961 Trail Smoke Eaters that won the World Championship for Canada. He went on to coach hockey internationally. Together with his wife, Beryl (known as Goldie), he was a well-known restaurateur in the Kootenays.
Predeceased by his sister Doreen Smith, and brother Buck Jones, he will be lovingly remembered and vastly missed by his wife Beryl, his children Judy, Greg, Leslie (Stephanie), and David (Mary), and his grandchildren including Taylor, Jordan, Sean, and Jeremy.
A service will be held at a later date. For those that wish, donations in his name may be made to the Trail Minor Hockey Association.
Rest in Peace #13.
