Harvey passed away in Trail, BC on August 11, 2016.

Harvey was born in Borden, Saskatchewan on September 28, 1939. He was the eldest child of Edward and Amanda Ashman.

Harvey’s earliest years were on the farm in SK where he loved playing with the animals. The family moved from SK to ON when Harvey was around 6 years old and they lived in the St. Catherine’s area for about 5 years before moving to BC. The family lived in the Aldergrove area and were close neighbours with many maternal relatives. Harvey graduated from Aldergrove High School in 1958 and then went to the BC Institute of Technology. At the age of 21 when he was eligible to apprentice as an electrician he decided to move to Trail and take a position with Columbia Electro-Centre. Harvey also spent many years working at Cominco and his last few at Johnson Matthey before taking early retirement.

Harvey was fascinated by anything to do with lights and collected tools. He enjoyed his coffee mornings with friends at the mall.

Harvey’s parents, Edward and Amanda Ashman and his brother-in-law Ian Forsyth predeceased him.

Harvey is survived by his siblings, Judi Forsyth, Ted (Donna) Ashman and Debee (Bill) Quiring, and his stepsons Scot (Wanda) and Perry Main

Harvey is being cremated and his ashes will be interred with his parents at Hazelwood Municipal Cemetery in Abbotsford, BC. Donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

Special thanks go to his neighbour and friends for their patience and assistance.
