Hazel Kassian

June 2, 2013

September 27, 1924- June 2, 2013

We sadly announce Hazel’s passing at Rosewood Village on June 2nd.

Born in Selwyn, Sask., mom moved at an early age to Nelson where her uncle Will and aunt Kate Latta raised her. She worked for Boeing Aircraft during the war and married Bill (passed 1992) after he returned from service. Moving to Trail they raised four children, Catherine Poch, Janet (Jim) Meeds; Ronald (Manse Latke) and Allan ( Helen). Our home on Shaver’s Bench was always filled with the scent of home-grown flowers, baking and mom’s crochet. Mom was dad’s helpmate with his political ventures, Cub Leader with 5th Trail Cubs and Scouts in the sixties, bowler in the sixties and seventies, long time member of the Anglican Church Woman’s Auxiliary, Rebekah Assembly of OddFellows, and local chapter of the Canadian Institute of the Blind (CNIB).

Mom is survived by sister Evelyn Hussey, children and grandchildren; Louis, Jim, Brian, Ed, John, Jessica, Ian, Melanie, Colleen, William, Tori and Josh as well as 14 great-grand-children. Longtime friends Gladys Wirsch, Pat McCabe, Pat Luchinni, Barb James, several nieces and nephews and many other friends who mourn her passing with us

The families wish to thank the staff of both Silver City Garden and Rosewood Village for the exemplary care they provided for mom while she resided with them.

Donations in her memory may be made to the CNIB. Services will be announced at a later date.
