With sad hearts, the family of Roy Ian Murray, of Trail, wishes to announce his passing at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 after a long battle with Diabetes and Kidney disease.
Roy was born in Penticton, BC. on August 27, 1937. He was raised in Creston, and moved to Trail in the early 60’s. Roy worked at various jobs in Trail, found employment with the City of Trail Works Yard for 3 years, and eventually moved over to the Trail Fire Dept. in 1967, which ultimately became the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary Fire Department. He worked there for 26 years, before retiring in May, 1993.
He is predeceased by his parents Marion & Harry and his brother George. Left to mourn after 50 wonderful years of marriage is his loving wife Edith. He also leaves behind sons Allen (Teresa), Ron, Kevin, and grandchildren Ryan, Kayla, Carson & Brooke.
Roy loved the outdoors and did a lot of hunting, fishing & camping with his friends Roger Heasman, Jack Wallington & co-workers from the Fire Department. For 32 years, Roy along with his family enjoyed spending the summers at Skands Campground at Christina Lake. He enjoyed cheering on the Trail Smokeaters Hockey team, win or lose. He was a faithful 649 ticket player, always looking to win the big one.
At Roy’s request, there will be no funeral service. A social gathering will take place at the Trail Legion Hall on Wednesday, November 20, 2013, from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
