In loving memory ~

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the unfortunate passing of Dan Hill. He left peacefully with his family by his side, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Trail BC, Dan was the youngest of three children, born to Les and Olive Hill. He grew up in Warfield and was considered one of the original Warfield boys, who are all close friends to this day.

After graduating, he student taught at the junior high in Trail. It wasn't long before he realized, this was not for him. He continued with his education in Vancouver, where he met Bonnie. They eventually moved back to the Kootenays where they settled in Rossland. Dan then began his lengthy career at Teck Cominco.

His first job was pulling zinc in the old tank rooms. He then looked at the union book and saw that steam engineers made $.50 more per hour. Dan then transferred to the roasters, starting at the bottom, where his journey became a legacy. He studied at home while working to earn his steam tickets. He had many active roles, including utility foreman, shift leader, production coordinator, shutdown coordinator, production superintendent, operations manager and project lead on the new acid plant. He was so proud to be a part of building #1 acid plant for the benefit of Trail and finishing off his 42-year career.

Dan was compassionate and a very good listener. Above one of his office doors, the boys made a sign saying 'Dan Landers'.

Dan was married to the love of his life Bonnie, for 45 years. They raised two children, Sharlene and James. His kids were always his main focus, as he tried to steer them in life. Eventually they were blessed with six grand-children, who also quickly became his #1 priority and they created everlasting memories together.

When he wasn't with family he loved rodeos, especially bull riding. You could also find him at country music festivals, the ski hill, the golf course or just walking his dog.

He was loved by everyone lucky enough to join his adventure of life. He will be missed by many but his memories will forever be held close to our hearts, a sentiment we know many others will share.

Dan was predeceased by his father Les, mother Olive, brother Kenny and sister Margaret. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife Bonnie, daughter Sharlene (Brent), son James (Tammy), grand-children (Holly, Kacey. J.D., Ava, Brynn and Eden), nephews Mike (Brooke) and Randy, nieces Shelley (James) and Renae and sister-in-law Ragan.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life at the Warfield Hall on September 21st at 1 pm. Feel free to share any stories or memories. Sarah Stevens of Clark's Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.

Special thanks to the I.C.U. and the E.R. staff at K.B.R.H., Tessa Hamilton, Cathy and staff of Alpine Drugs.
