James Henry Ellison, 74, born in Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully Friday, January 15, 2021 in the comfort of his home in Fruitvale, BC.
James is survived by his loving wife Catherine of 30 years whom was with James when he passed.
James is lovingly remembered by his four (4) children Dallas (Daniel), Ryan (Kat), Nicole (Jason), Candace (Nevin) and by his twelve (12) grandchildren Bailey, Jayme, Jordyn, Riley & Torryn, Mattias, Mila, Avalyn, Emilee Colston, Austyn and Kaiden. James also leaves behind his beloved dog Angel.
James served as a Councillor for the Village of Fruitvale as well as a Director for the Co-op, Fruitvale Gas Bar.
A full adventurous life was had by James from being a Merchant Marine holding the positions of Captain, Mate and Deckhand on many tug boats. James volunteered his time to ATV and Motorcycle clubs to build trails to accommodate off road extracurricular activities.
On top of his volunteer work his aspiration was to have the best kept yard in his neighborhood and insisted on cutting the grass himself or there was the possibility it may be stated "ruffles has ridges". James was also an avid gardener and always managed to grow the tomatoes up to the gutter.
James had a passion for collection of "all the things" from magazines, to T-shirts, to toques, to having every tool imaginable.
James will be missed and remembered for his devotion to family and friends, his never ending wit and honesty, his intelligence and diversification on a variety of topics, and his positive attitude through this tragedy - a life cut way to short.

A celebration of life will be held the spring of 2021 for those that want to gather and share their memories. Details to be communicated through a social media platform.
Catherine would like to thank family, friends, Interior Health Home Care personnel, Serendipity Home Support personnel, and the community for their support.
