June 1, 1935 - August 22, 2023
In Loving Memory ~
It is with sorrow we announce the passing of our Aunt Jane Florence Nicholson on August 22, 2023. Jane was born in Trail, B.C., on June 1, 1935.
Jane was pre-deceased by her father and mother, Joseph Nicholson, and Minnie Nicholson (Houston) and her brother William (Bud) Allen.
Jane is survived by her nephews Michael (Tracy), and Nathan (Delahnia) and niece Jo-Anna.
We would like to honour Jane's dedicated service to the residents of Trail, B.C., with her spirit of strength, and personal power and courage throughout her life:
Jane was a dedicated worker at Tech Cominco for 33 years, holding several positions, including that of Clerk in the Zinc Operations, and as Accounts Payable Clerk.
Jane was also a dedicated volunteer in Trail, working with the B.C. Wildfire Service. It was Jane's great joy to be able to support the housing of families evacuated from the fire areas.
Jane also held the post of Seniors Advocate in Trail, travelling across the country to meetings that would provide information in order to better serve the seniors in her community.
Jane's personality was one that loved to keep active, which found her doing a variety of activities and crafts including: beading, colouring, and creating unique recipe books. Jane also eagerly engaged in community events, such as the Trail Coffee Club, the Senior Chef program, and playing bingo where possible.
The family would like to acknowledge with sincere gratitude the loving, dedicated and compassionate care and support Jane received from the staff at Talarico Place in Castlegar, and previously at Silver City Gardens in Trail, as well as the care received from her long-time friends Hope Kelly and Helen Willis.
No service has been requested. However, should friends desire, donations can be made to the BC Cancer Foundation Center: "Sirdi Ahlawalia Hawkins Center" at 399 Royal Ave., Kelowna, B.C. V1Y 5L3.
