1931-2021 ~ It is with great sadness that we announce the passing on April 8th of Jean Paolone. Jean Marsh was born and raised in Medicine Hat, AB.
She met John Paolone when he was playing hockey for the Tigers. They married in 1953, raised their six children in Trail, and enjoyed 67 happy years together.
In addition to raising six kids, Jean found time to pursue many activities. She was an enthusiastic reader, skier, curler and golfer. She was a formidable bridge player attaining Life Masters status.
Jean was a long-standing member of the CWL in Trail and loved being a reader at Christina Lake Catholic Church. She had many friends with whom she traveled making trips to Europe, Mexico and Hawaii.
Along with bridge games she drove through whiteout conditions over Paulson Summit to get to her weekly poker game! She was generous with her time as a volunteer member of the Christina Lake Health Care Auxiliary.
It would be remiss not to mention that in spite of being inglesi, she made the best spaghetti and homemade pizza ever.
Jean is remembered by her husband, John, her children, Steven (Luisa), Shawn (Jim), Lauren, and Jackie (Mike), daughter-in-law Patty , her 18 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, step brothers John Nugent (Penny), Mike Nugent and Tom Nugent and many extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Waiting for her on the other side are her mother, father, brothers Bill and Jack, sister Marlene Plensky, her children Neil and Tracy and grandson Griffin.
Jean's family is so very appreciative of the loving care and support she received from the staff at Columbia View Lodge, Trail Regional Hospital and Christina Lake Home Support.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jean's name to: Tracy Paolone Memorial Scholarship Fund (https://selkirk.ca/donate-today or cheques sent to Attn: Advancement, Selkirk College, 820 Tenth Street, V1L 3C7), The KBRH Health Foundation (https://kbrh.netcheckout.com/).
A memorial service will take place when possible.
