Jeanne Therese Olmsted (nee Traynor)

OLMSTED, Jeanne Therese (nee Traynor) passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Talarico Place, Castlegar, BC. She was born in Owen Sound, Ontario on October 16, 1924.

Jeanne grew up on a farm on the Irish Block. She married Clyde Olmsted on July 20, 1946. They had four children (Patti, Chuck, Therese and Rose) all of whom were born in Ontario. The family moved to Trail in 1964 where Jeanne became a successful business woman who owned and managed several different beauty salons in the Trail area. She retired in 1987.

Jeanne loved spending time visiting with her family which usually included playing card games or dice. She was blessed with 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaugher. Jeanne loved to travel and enjoyed many winters in California and Arizona and she also treasured her summers at Christina Lake with her family and friends.

While at Talarico Place, she enjoyed visits from her many friends and particularly looked forward to the Friday afternoon bridge game and outings to the casino.

Jeanne’s faith in God was the core of her existence that guided her throughout her life. She was an awesome role model and the best mother any child could hope for. She had a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed her interactions with those she met along the way.

Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Clyde in 1998, her daughter Patti in 1989 and her son-in-law Wally Pruden in 2015 as well as three sisters and one brother. She will be sadly missed by her son Chuck of Thailand, and her daughters; Therese (Walter) Rosner of Rossland and Rose (Virgil) Gaudry of Warfield, her grandchildren; Darcy, Dusty, Alana, Kelsey, Mitch and Jazz, her 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Bart van Roijen, Celebrant. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
