It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, sister and friend. As the kids would call her ‘Grandma Gooch’. Arvena was born in Trail on January 31, 1933 and passed away in the Trail Regional Hospital on August 23, 2017. Arvena married John Dougan on July 6, 1957 in Rossland. Arvena’s working years consisted of Hunter Bros., Eatons (accounting office), assistant manager BC Liquor Stores. Arvena was a member of the CWL, Ladies Auxiliary Legion #14 Rossland and Rossland Hospital Auxiliary. Arvena was always a busy lady and was always willing to help others. Her love was her home in Rossland and her family. She loved to travel, watch her grandkids play sports, scratch her BINGO tickets and check out any casino. Her witty personality, laugh and awesome smile will be severely missed. Arvena was predeceased by her husband John, sisters (Joy Duperon and Ardys Anderson), brother (Ardell Klinzing), parents (Ken and Elizabeth Klinzing). She is survived by daughters Lori (Tom) Drake, Colleen (John) Robinson, grandchildren Shane (Julie) Drake, Travis (Marley) Drake, Caitlin Drake, Riley (Tamara) Robinson, great grandchildren Connor and Chelsea Drake, sister Flora Knowles and brother in laws Wally Duperon and Ken Dougan. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 31 at 10:30 at Sacred Heart Parish in Rossland with Father Nino Tuyo celebrant. Final resting place will be Mountain View Cemetery. A reception to follow at Sacred Heart Parish. If possible please consider donating blood as that is what helped our Mom. Donations can be made in memory of Arvena to Diabetes Canada or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
