On Sunday, July 23, 2017 at 9:09 pm, the winds blew strong and, with broken hearts, we said goodbye to Nana.

Joan was born on September 15, 1952 in Surabaja, Indonesia. She was married to Johannes on June 5, 1972 in Calgary, AB. They moved to Trail in 1974 where they raised their 2 boys in their current family home in Sunningdale.

Joan will always be remembered for her pure adoration and unconditional love for her 2 boys and her 5 grandchildren. Her greatest accomplishment was, easily, her children. Her life was complete with the addition of each of her grandkids along with the family dogs. Our family enjoyed many sunny days in the beautiful back yard that she and Hans Sr. created, where she would reminisce endlessly about times passed. She was the kids’ biggest fan, attending every game of hockey, baseball, softball and soccer, memorizing players’ names and numbers but always saving the biggest cheers for her grandkids. Always prepared with snacks of KFC, bubble gum, oranges, chips and chocolate bars, Nana took time to show her love to each of them and they knew without question that she adored them. She welcomed new friends and fondly spoke of the old, cherishing the time spent with each. What a blessing it was to have our children call her Nana.

Joan is predeceased by her parents, Georgette Lindeboom and Pieter Krans and her brother-in-law Lyle Jessett. She will be fondly remembered and survived by her husband Johannes, her sons Dean (Kirsten) and Hans Jr.(Amy), her beautiful grandchildren; Jonny, Dawson, Liam, Hudson, and her princess, Sentri, her brother Matthew Krans (Judy), her sister Joyce Jessett, her nephews; Jason, Justin and Josh, and her many extended family members in Holland and the United States.

As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to BC Lotto 649 and the local hockey association 50/50 draws.

An Open House to celebrate Joan’s life will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2017 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the Warfield Community Hall. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family’s online register at www.myalternatives.ca
