In loving memory ~
Our beloved "Mrs. Loo" passed away on October 27, 2024 at Talarico Place, Castlegar, BC leaving us with precious memories and great affection for a kind, generous, hospitable, loyal friend, neighbor, and educator.
Born in Sioux Lookout, Ontario, Joan enjoyed a secure, fun-filled childhood with her parents, Gladys and John Wynd, her sister, Sue, and brother Peter. As an adult, she moved to Winnipeg, where she met a dashing young engineer, John Loo. Their happy marriage spanned over 59 years.
Joan is survived by her husband John Loo, son Tyler Loo, daughter Cathy Loo and son David Conyers along with his wife Linda, and their daughters, Alexa and Victoria, who live on the Sunshine Coast.
As a wife, mother, family member and friend, Joan was and is cherished. She was a versatile homemaker, proficient seamstress and a great cook. She was warm, loving and inclusive of all.
When Joan's children were well settled in school, Joan set out to fulfill a long-held dream to become a teacher. She certainly realized her ambition, graduating with a teaching degree, attained in the Kootenays and went on to demonstrate her deep understanding of children as a teacher. Her colleagues shared the students' delight, as Joan knocked us out with her creativity, her ability in Drama, her sharing of literature, her talent and her famous "bag of tricks".
Joan and John have truly lived a blessed life together, spreading a "zest for life" wherever they have resided (Winnipeg, Kemano, Kitmat, South Slocan and Castlegar) or travelled to (China, Europe, Alaska). They have made friends wherever they have gone and captured admiration from everyone on the dance floor.
Joan's family are so very grateful for the tender and loving care given to Joan from the Medical Professionals in the community and especially to the amazing staff at Talarico Place.
Instead of a formal Service, the family will have a Celebration of life, at a later date (most likely in the Spring). Friends and family will be notified of the date, and we can collectively continue to spread good cheer and sweet remembrance of Joan, and her life well lived.
Look for me in Rainbows
Time for me to go now,
I won't say goodbye;
Look for me in rainbows,
way up in the sky
In the morning sunrise when
All the world is new,
Just look for me and love me,
as you know I loved you.
Time for me to leave you,
I won't say goodbye;
Look for me in rainbows,
high up in the sky.
In the evening sunset,
when all the world is through,
Just look for me and love me,
and I'll be close to you.
It won't be forever,
the day will come and then
My loving arms will hold you,
When we meet again.
Time for us to part now,
We won't say goodbye;
Look for me in rainbows,
shining in the sky.
Every waking moment,
and all your whole life through
Just look for me and love me,
as you know I loved you.
Just wish me to be near you,
And I'll be there with you.
