John Carrol O’Genski passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 3, 2017 at the age of 85.

He was born on July 30, 1931 in Nelson, BC and spent his youth in the area. He treasured growing up on a farm with his 3 younger brothers and learned hard work at a young age. He had a passion for sports, hunting and fishing. John met Marjorie in 1951 and they married in 1952 relocating to Trail where they raised two sons Gord and Rick.

John worked for BC Tel and retired in 1985. John and Marj spent many years traveling with family and friends. He loved the cruises they took and always looked forward to their twice yearly trips to Reno, NV. Recent years John looked forward to traveling to Wendover, NV.

John is survived by his two sons, Gord (Debbie) and Rick; grandchildren Samantha (Trevor) Fennell, Tracee (Bryan) Zelke and Nataly O’Genski; his pride and joy, great-grandchildren Paige and Grayden Fennell and Evalyn and Markus Zelke. He is also survived by his brothers Ron, Jim (Ann) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is pre-deceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Marjorie, his mother Ruth, his father John, brother Gene, sisters-in-law Doris and Marlene and nephew Brent.

A celebration of John’s life will be held this spring. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
