John (Jack) Gordon Glover

September 18, 2020
We are heartbroken to announce the unexpected passing of our father John (Jack) Gordon Glover on September 18th, 2020 at the age of 89. Loving husband, best father ever, grand-father, uncle, and friend to many. Dad passed away peacefully due to complications from a fall, with his family by his side and his two daughters holding him closely.
Lovingly remembered by his beloved wife and sweetheart of 70 years (married for 66) Alice, daughters Kimberly (Kevin) Arklie, Trisha (Bret) Gagnon. Grandchildren, Evan, Lucas, Serena, Stephanie (Tyler) and Matthew (Holly). Four great-grand-children (Logan, Amelia, Lincoln and Farrah), his sister Dorothy Lloyd of Patterson BC, sister-in-law Georgina Glover of Vernon BC, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Dad was born and raised in the Rossland area where he met Alice. Dad and Mom wed on June 12, 1954 in the Rossland United Church where they also renewed their vows on their 50th wedding anniversary. In 1956 Dad and Mom moved to Cloverdale where they built their home on 60th Avenue, resided for 46 years, raised their two daughters and then moved to Turnberry in 2003.
Dad loved hockey and with his friend Bill Demish, started the original Surrey Eagles hockey team. Dad was so proud of his team winning the cup in 1964. He also coached hockey in Cloverdale for a short period of time.
Dad worked for the Department of Highways for 25+ years and made many friends along the way. He was hard working and could operate just about any type of machinery. Dad retired when the Department of Highways was privatized.
Dad was a friendly, social man. He would strike up a conversation with just about anyone he met and loved to share his many stories of growing up in Rossland with his 6 brothers and 2 sisters, his time with the Triple C Radio Club and of course playing hockey. Dad would do anything for a friend and was the go-to-guy to borrow tools, lend a hand or find that needed part in his garage. He hugged like no other and his hands were larger than life.
Family was everything to dad. Nothing made him happier than having us all together for dinner or to celebrate a special occasion. He was so immensely proud of the family he built with mom and will leave a legacy of love and family values. Rest easy dad, we love you, miss you and will take care of mom.
There will be no service at dad’s request. A family celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Our sincere thanks to our extended family, Sharon, Caitlyn, Cassidy, Marj, George, Roger, Heather and David for all their help and support.
