January 12, 2019
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, John Philippe Nedelec. John passed away peacefully on January 12th at Columbia View Lodge at the age of 90, with his loving family by his side. John was born in Edam, Saskatchewan and was one of 10 children born to Thomas and Delphine Nedelec.

In 1948, at the age of 20, John moved to Trail, BC where he met the love of his life Jennie. They married in 1953 and made their home in West Trail. He worked at Cominco for 12 years and then at Celgar for 30 years before retiring in 1991.

During the summer the family camped at Kootenay and Christina Lakes. He vacationed with Jennie to Hawaii, California, Mexico and across Canada. At the Trail Smoke Eaters games you could always find John standing at his spot on the rail with his friends. He spent many hours watching baseball and softball games at the local parks. Gardening, fishing and puttering in the yard were some of his favourite activities.

After retirement, dad cherished his family time and was happiest when he was surrounded by those he loved.

John was an active member of the community. He was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years, volunteered with seniors and at church pancake breakfasts.

John is survived by his three sons; Darrell (Laurette), David (Kathleen), and Thomas (Brenda), and his grandchildren; Shauna, Cody, Marnie and Shane. He is also survived by his brothers Paul (Mary Adele), and Charlie (Jennifer), sisters Yvette and Helen, and sister-in-law Mildred.

He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years Jennie, daughter Suzanne, brothers; Roger, Lucien, George, Andrew and Rene, and his parents Thomas and Delphine.

We would like to thank all the staff, doctors, nurses, and care aides at KBRH, Rosewood Village, Poplar Ridge, and Columbia View Lodge for the love and care they gave our dad over the last few years.

As an expression of sympathy, donations in John's name may be made to St. Michaels Catholic School at 1329 4th Ave, Trail, BC, V1R 1S3 or to a charity of one's choice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Francis dela Cruz, Celebrant. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation ServicesTM has been entrusted with arrangements.

You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family's online register at www.myalternatives.ca.
