December 18, 1922 – April 17, 2011. Born in Edmonton, John spent most of his life in Trail, retiring as chief metallurgical engineer at Cominco (Teck) in 1986. His work took him to many countries, especially Japan. An avid dancer, traveller skier, and fisherman, John contributed to his community in many ways, most notably as Selkirk College chairman and as Rod and Gun Club president. In his last few years, John was affected by Alzheimer’s disease. He died peacefully in Penticton with his wife by his side. He is remembered with much love by Mavis, his wife of 57 years; his children, Rick (Marija) of Tonasket, Washington and Jane (Dave) of Victoria; his grandchildren, Jordan of Ottawa, Shamus of Montreal, Janine of Haida Gwaii, Alexis of Victoria and Allison of Italy. A family gathering to celebration John’s life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family through providencefuneralhomes.com.
