March 23, 1955 - July 8, 2018
It is with a deep sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Andrews on July 8, 2018 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 63. Karen passed peacefully with her family at her bedside after a long and courageous battle with Leukemia at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre.

Karen Andrews was born in Trail, BC to Robert and Nella Howes on March 23, 1955. She was predeceased by her father Robert (Bob) Howes. She leaves to mourn her mother Nella Howes, husband Dale Andrews, son Ryan (Hayley) Andrews, daughter Kelly (Sham) Ghazii and her grandchildren; Lennon, Matteo, Aasia and Aisha. Karen will be remembered by her twin brother Robert (Lily) Howes, sister Frances Lloyd and youngest brother Richard Howes, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Karen and Dale were married on July 31, 1976 in Trail, BC and enjoyed 42 years together as husband and wife. Karen spent 40 years working at Super Valu (Ferraro Foods) as a cashier. She loved her job particularly interacting with her co-workers, friends and serving her customers with a smile or joke. She was fortunate to spend her time at the store working with her family. Karen retired in 2008 and loved to spend the winters in Mesa, Arizona where she enjoyed the warm temperatures allowing her to hike, golf, bike ride and do Zumba and yoga by the pool.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the doctors at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital; Dr. Cameron, Dr. Aiken and Dr. Scotland as well as the doctors and nurses at the Tom Baker Cancer Center for their dedication, kindness and care throughout Karen's treatment. A special thank you to her Calgary doctors; Dr. Gedes, Dr. Modi and Dr. Chaudry for your love, compassion and professionalism.
