November 17, 1982 - June 6, 2020
Very early on Wednesday, November 17, 1982, Karen came into this world at Burnaby General Hospital. She lived her first couple of years in the most northern part of B.C., in the now abandoned town of Cassiar. Her loving younger sister, Sue, was born 2 and a half years later, and within weeks, the family moved south to Nanaimo.
She had an alliance with every animal she came in contact with. She loved them all, big and small, cuddly or not. "She could tame a wildcat out of a tree." Karen was a natural at horse riding. She was also a talented dancer and learned to play the clarinet with ease.
Karen lived several years in Okanagan Centre, before moving to Trail. where she gave birth to a wonderful son, Gavin, on April 14, 2002. She lived in Trail for a number of years making many friends and also working in the local movie cinema. Karen met and married the love of her life, Thomas, on July 9, 2010. She and Thomas had another wonderful son, Dryden, on August 24, 2013. In 2015, they moved to Kelowna.
Karen faced a number of health issues, and it is with extreme sorrow that we mourn her passing early on the morning of June 6th 2020. She was a very kind and loving person. Everyone always enjoyed her wide, welcoming smile. She had lots of friends to whom she was extremely devoted. Karen was loved by many people and will be greatly missed, leaving holes in many hearts.
