August 30, 2020
Karen Thatcher, 63, of Rossland, British Columbia, bravely and without falter fought through a battle with cancer. Until the end Karen was true to her commitment for life and not so subtle humour, however passed away with family on August 30, 2020.
Karen lovingly leaves behind her husband of 41 years Tim, children Dustin (Leah), Ryan, and grandchildren Hailey, Emerson, McKenzie, Jessa and uncountable friends.
Karen was a dedicated member of the local communities she lived in; providing care to community members as a paramedic for 25 years, volunteering on many community groups, and, teaching and coaching youth sports programs. Of late, through her quilting endeavors, Karen was occupied teaching her unique style to audiences across the country, as well, meticulously constructing her art for donation and fundraising efforts for various charities including BC Children's Hospital and Canuck House. Karen had a passion for the outdoors spending free time in the forests, lakes and mountains hiking, skiing and snowshoeing with friends and family. As a means to spend more time with her friends, and less time focused on the mastery of the sport, Karen was a fixture at the golf course.
Thanks to all of the medical professionals who supported Karen and family over the last year.
In memory of Karen, donations can be made in her name to BC Cancer Society or BC Children's Hospital.
