It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear sister and friend, Katharine.
Katharine was born in Kimberley, BC to Al and Rae Diedrich, the second of four children. The family relocated to Rossland, BC when she was six.
Katharine loved sports and was the full time scorekeeper at all the RSS Senior Royals basketball games. She also had a passion for fishing, her Chevelle and her Camaro. Katharine was an avid traveller jetting around the world to Africa, Great Britain and Mexico as well as taking an Alaskan cruise. She was also very giving and would do anything for her family.
After graduating from the Registered Nursing program at Selkirk College, Katharine's career took her to jobs in Trail, Prince Rupert and the Lower Mainland, including a job at Kent Prison in Agassiz.
As a retired RN, it was natural for Katharine to be helpful to those around her when they were in need. In life Katharine always had a heart big enough to always be there to
lend a helping had or a sympathetic ear.
As in her life as a nurse, she would help her apartment neighbours when and if they were sick or, sadly, closing the last chapter of their lives. Katharine would always be there. She of course, did what she did for the ailing for no profit. Katharine was a very open minded and non-judgmental type of person.
Katharine is survived by her siblings Ted (Barb) Diedrich, Sharon (Neil) Thomas and Linda (Bob) French as well as her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and grandparents.
By Katharine's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
Spread your angel wings Katharine! You've earned them.
