In loving memory ~
Katie Melissa (Elliott) Johnson, 44, of Vancouver, BC, passed away peacefully after a 5.5 year battle with breast cancer, in the early hours of March 19, 2025. She was surrounded by her loving family. She left behind a legacy of love, faith, kindness and endless humour.
Katie was born on November 16, 1980, in Trail, BC, the second daughter of Dave and Eileen Elliott. Growing up in Fruitvale, she enjoyed summers spent camping and swimming with family at Champion Lakes, Kootenay Lake, and traveling on family road trips to Winnipeg. A talented pianist, she had a gift for composing beautiful music that filled our home with beautiful melodies.
A graduate of J. L. Crowe High School in 1998, she moved to Vancouver in 1999 to be closer to her sister and her family. There she met her two lifelong best friends Lacy and Danielle. Their deeply bonded connection was a gift in her life and their friendship and shared humour was legendary.
She met her husband, Dave Johnson in 2000 and discovered they shared a love for music, games and sharp
humour. They became a couple in 2007 and were married in 2009. They enjoyed many years of road trips, vacationing and being cat parents to their beloved Leo. Leo was her constant companion, and she and Dave were often seen in their neighbourhood pushing him in his cat stroller, or out for a walk on his leash at Jericho Beach. Katie and Dave loved and supported each throughout their 15.5 years of marriage.
Katie's career gradually began to encompass a proficiency in accounting. Her meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical mindset made the work very satisfying for her. She began working for Aldrich Pears & Associates in 2008, and quickly rose through the ranks to become the Accountant and Controller of the company, where she dedicated 15 years of exceptional service. Her colleagues appreciated her high work ethic, precision, integrity, and leadership.
She had a deep love for her God, Jehovah, and found comfort in His promises. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her decisions and bringing her peace. She even learned a second language, Farsi, in order to teach the bible's hope to others.
She found joy in the water, whether it was swimming under the summer sun or braving the chill of a cold dip, always feeling most alive when surrounded by water.
She had a heart for others, always putting their well being before her own, whether through a kind
word, a selfless act, or simply listening. Despite her illness, she never lost her quick wit, keeping us all laughing with her sharp humor and infectious spirit.
She will be profoundly missed by her loving husband Dave Johnson, her parents Dave and Eileen Elliott;
her siblings, Kara Jinjoe (Jonathan) and Kyle Elliott (Gaylene); her "Amma" Clarice Nelson, and her beloved nieces and nephews, Tristan (Macy), Julian, Ava (Alex), Lilac, Ryder, and Opal. She will also be lovingly remembered by her dear father and mother in-law, Ed and Jeanne Johnson, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and all those
whose lives she touched.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Alan Nelson, Minnie and Lawrence Elliott, and her Aunt Donna Lazaridis.
