December 21, 1965 - August 19, 2021
It is with broken hearts and tremendous sadness that we announce the loss of Larry Doskoch. Larry was born on December 21st, 1965, in Edmonton, Alberta and passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer on August 19th, 2021, in Trail, British Columbia.
Larry is lovingly remembered by his beautiful wife Lisa, his sons Pablo, Nicolas and Adam, his brother Richard (Eileen), nieces Heather and Lauren, sister Mary Agnes and many nieces, nephews and cousins, not to mention many lifelong friends. Larry was predeceased by his father Walter, mother Anne, and sisters Shirley and Patricia.
Larry attended the University of Alberta where he obtained a Mechanical Engineering degree in 1987 and then chose to begin his career at Cominco Engineering Services Ltd. as an Engineer in Training. Early in his career, he worked for CESL at the Quebrada Blanca mine in Chile.
After South America, following a brief stint in Vancouver, he settled in Trail, working for Cominco Metals Ltd. as a Senior Production Engineer. Over the years, he worked in a variety of roles, finishing his career as the Projects and Engineering Manager. During his time in Trail, Larry was a part of many major projects including the #1 and #2 Acid Plants and the Smelter Recycle Building.
Throughout his entire career, he was very passionate about the work that he did and the people that he worked with.
In his spare time, Larry loved to spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed many activities, especially camping in the summer, riding his bike and playing crib until the wee hours of the mornings. In the winter, Larry's most favorite pastime was sitting at the rink watching his kids play hockey and skiing at Red Mountain. Wherever Larry went, he brought a contagious smile with him.
A big heartfelt thank you to the many doctors and nurses who helped care for Larry at the BC Cancer Agency in Kelowna, KGH, and KBRH.
