Dec. 9, 1934 - Jun 6, 2016

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother and loving wife Licia Giannina Bedin on June 6, 2016. She was born in Trail, BC on December 9, 1934, the daughter of Angelo and Filomena Dalla Lana.

Licia grew up on Buckna Street in West Trail. She would often enjoy sharing her many fond memories and stories of her childhood, family and friends. She started working at the Trail Times while in high school and continued working there after graduating. She then attended night school to become a stenographer after which she worked at Cominco in public relations until starting her family. Licia and Luigi were married in 1961 and raised their two children in Glenmerry. As well as being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Licia loved to volunteer in various capacities in her community and would happily sign up to help with any special event. She was an active member of the Sisters of Colombo and the CWL for many years.

Mom loved to dance and attend banquets with dad at the Colombo Lodge. Having many creative talents, Licia took numerous classes over the years and produced wonderful projects such as decorated cakes, sewing, embroidery, holiday decorations, ceramics, knitting and delicious baking. She especially loved flowers and arranging them. Licia’s kind, generous spirit enriched the lives of her family and all who knew her. Always thinking of others before herself, mom left us with a legacy of knowing the importance of kindness, compassion, and forgiveness. Always there to listen, share, and help in any way, she will be greatly missed.

Licia is survived by her husband Luigi, son Mark (Rachel), daughter Christine (Ken), grandchildren; Christopher and Felicia and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Angelo and Filomena Dalla Lana, and her brother Fred.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 10:30 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish with Father Bart van Roijen, Celebrant. Bill Clark of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.

The family would like to thank Dr. Cameron, Dr. Scotland and all the nursing staff for the kindness and care. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Licia’s name may be made to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Health Foundation (Oncology Unit or the Elder Care Campaign) at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC, V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.caa
