It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother after a lengthy illness. Mom passed away peacefully at Columbia View Lodge, Trail, BC on December 22, 2011.
Lida was born to Eugenio and Margarita Dalla Lana on July 26, 1924 in Kamloops, and lived there for her early childhood years. She came to Trail and began a career with the Bank of Montreal in 1942 until her retirement in 1982. In 1944, she married Fred Buccini and together they had a loving and sharing relationship that lasted for 64 years until Fred’s passing in 2008.
She will be forever missed by her sons Gerry (Anne) and Chris (Sandie), her brother Ivo (Mary) Dalla Lana and sister Elsie Shorthouse. Also surviving Lida are her grandchildren Andrea (Rob) Daly, Tony Buccini, David Buccini, Stepanie (Keith) May and Lauren (Jason) Buccini as well as great grandchildren Claire, Sam and Grace Daly and Tyson, Alyssa and Austin May, all of who gave “Big Nona” great joy. Sisters-in-law Connie (Mike) Amantea and Millie Buckley also survive her as well and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lida was predeceased by her parents, husband Fred, sisters-in-law Dora Bordun, Isa Orrell and Lily Meagher and brothers-in-law Don Buccini and most recently Fred Shorthouse.
Many knew Mom for her giving nature. She was the proprietor of the ‘Buccini Hotel’ for many years, welcoming family and friends, whatever and whenever the occasion. She was the perfect sports Mom, often juggling two baseball or hockey games on the same day. For many years she was Treasurer of the Sisters of Colombo, Executive Treasurer for the Trail Branch of the Red Cross and was actively involved in the CWL. Lida was an avid bowler, curler and golfer which she did well into her later years until she sustained a tragic injury.
