In Loving Memory ~
Lily was born on October 13, 1931 in Crescent Valley, BC and passed away on February 5, 2022, at the age of 90, with family by her side.
Lily had many fond memories of growing up in the family home in South Slocan, BC. She enjoyed telling stories of her childhood and her dear friends.
She attended primary school there, and then continued on to high school in Nelson, BC. From there she attended Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, where she graduated at the top of her class as a Registered Nurse in 1953.
Lily began her nursing career in Victoria. While at work one day, she met a young handsome RCMP officer named Norman Negrey who was stationed as a guard for an inmate who was receiving medical care. They were married in October of 1957.
Their life together took them to Nanaimo, Dawson Creek, Castlegar, and finally to Trail in 1972. Lily worked as a registered nurse throughout her life, eventually retiring from the Trail Regional Hospital in 1994.
Lily was predeceased by her husband, Norman in 2019, her brother John Golik of South Slocan, and her sister Olga Miller of Victoria, BC.
She will be greatly missed by her three sons, Allan (Beverly), Brent (Kari), Greg (Adriana), grandchildren Madison & Owen, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank all the staff at KBRH for the amazing care and compassion given to Lily during her stay, as well as the staff at Mountainside Village in Fruitvale for all their support and special care towards our mom over the past two years.
She was the kindest and most gentle person you could meet and was loved by all who knew her. She was a loving, compassionate mother, devoted wife, and an adored grandmother. We will forever cherish her memory.
At Lily's request, no service will be held. Andreas Schmitz of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services™ has been entrusted with arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, your donations made in Lily's memory to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC, V1R 4M1 or online at www.kbrhhealthfoundation.ca would be greatly appreciated.
