August 14, 1927 - December 31, 2019
Life is not about the dates on either side but the hyphen in between.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father who passed away at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital at 92 years of age. Lloyd was born in Brantford, Ontario.
He joined the Merchant Navy at the age of 16 and travelled extensively. He then joined the Royal Canadian Navy where he spent another 34 years until his retirement. During this time, Lloyd met the love of his life Zena and made his home in Trail, BC.
Lloyd is survived by his son Raymond Cara and his wife Susan Cara (nee Langevin), his sister Doreen Anderson, many nieces and nephews in Ontario, his granddaughter Krystle, great-granddaughter Kara, and grandsons Dallas, Kyle and Cole.
The world is a better place because he walked through it. Lloyd will always be remembered for his love for animals and sadly missed by his many close friends. We will all miss his sense of humour and his love for sports.
At Lloyd's request, there will be no service or Celebration of Life. Al Grywacheski of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Servicesâ„¢ has been entrusted with arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in Lloyd's name may be made to your local SPCA.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence at the family's online register at www.myalternatives.ca
God saw you getting tired
So He put his arms around you
And whispered, "Come to Me"
With tearful eyes we watched you fade away
Although we loved you dearly
We could not make you stay
A golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands now rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best
