In loving memory ~
Lois Pazurik went to be with her Lord and Saviour on July 6, 2022, in Trail, BC, at the age of 80 after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease and a debilitating stroke Nov 30.
She's best known for her work with children, love of The Lord, tireless generosity, and bright smile.
Born Jan 21, 1942, Vancouver, BC, as Lois Jean Carr to Marion and Andrew Carr, her early years were spent in Victoria, BC. After getting a teaching degree from UBC, she took her first teaching position in Creston, BC. There she met her husband Michael "Mickey" Pazurik, which brought her to Trail two years later. She ended up raising their two kids on her own on Tamarac Avenue in West Trail with tremendous support from her generous in-laws John and Mary Pazurik of Trail, her sister and family camping companion Betty Wagstaff, and her dear brother and sister-in-law Larrie and Willow Carr of Crestova, BC, who hosted family dinners every holiday.
She is remembered fondly by many Trail-area children over the decades as both a teacher at Central Elementary and a leader at the Salvation Army church. Her faith and church were the center of her entire adult life. She participated in every aspect of the church community—attending spiritual meetings, managing Pioneers and countless kids programs, participating in church leadership as Corps Sergeant Major, and most visibly with music—playing trumpet in the band early on, playing piano for decades, and singing in choirs throughout.
She offered help to those in need whenever she could: visiting sick or isolated folks on her own or with church groups, driving people to appointments, working the Salvation Army Christmas kettles and hampers, or welcoming needy seniors to her basement suite.
Outside of her faith, she enjoyed concerts, studying alternative health, as well as a lifetime love of nature, including birding, gardening, camping, hiking, and canoeing.
She is survived by her daughter Salan Pazurik; son Aaron Pazurik (Maureen); sister Betty Wagstaff; granddaughters Zoe, Sydney, and Olivia; sisters-in-law Bonny Bennett (Ray Stellar), Willow Carr, Susan Handfield (Kurt); and several nieces and nephews. Mickey and her brothers Stuart Carr and Larrie Carr predeceased her.
