Lucio Piero 'Lou' Stilla

June 8, 2021

April 14, 1956 - June 8, 2021
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lucio (Lou) Piero Stilla on June 8, 2021. Lou was born in Grimaldi, Italy on April 14, 1956, and came to Canada with his family in 1957 where they ultimately settled in Trail.
He was predeceased by his parents Ottavio and Marcella, and brother Pasquale. Lou is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jenny, daughter Alana, sister Rosa (Brad), nephew Domenic (Stephanie, Sev, Callum), in-laws Mario and Elisa Ghilarducci, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Lou was passionate about food and dedicated to his career as a baker. He especially enjoyed making birthday cakes for family and friends and was known for his elaborate wedding cakes. As a former recreational hockey player and coach for his daughter's sports teams, Lou was an avid Chicago Blackhawks fan and a "regular" at the Trail Smoke Eaters games.
Every Christmas, Lou's family home would glow with a majestic display of Christmas lights to celebrate his favorite holiday. He knew how to fix anything and everything around the house and would often be enlisted by his family and friends to help with various fix-it projects.
Most of all, Lou was a family man dedicated to his loved ones. A generous and kind-hearted man, Lou made a positive impact on many people. Forever in our hearts, we will miss him immensely. We are so very grateful to have had Lou in our lives and will lovingly cherish our wonderful memories of him.
Due to COVID-19, a small private service has taken place. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation ServicesTM was entrusted with the arrangements.
As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made in memory of Lou to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital Foundation (Oncology Department) at 1200 Hospital Bench, Trail, BC, V1R 4M1 or online at www. kbrhhealthfoundation.ca, or the BC Cancer Foundation at www.bccancerfoundation.com
